Quantum research at UMD is led by the Department of Physics, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the Department of Computer Science & the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Major quantum centers include the Joint Quantum Institute, the Joint Center for Quantum Information & Computer Science, the Quantum Technology Center & the Quantum Materials Center. The university also works closely with federal and industry partners to advance quantum computing, quantum communication, and quantum materials research.
