Job Description
Job Title: VP, Facilities. Location: Fremont, California, USA
This role partners closely with executive leadership, technical teams, vendors, and regulators to ensure facilities support business growth, operational resilience, and mission-critical reliability.
Responsibilities:
Facilities Strategy and Planning
- Define and execute a multi-year facilities strategy aligned with business growth and technical requirements
- Translate business priorities into clear facilities decisions involving cost, risk, timing, and long-term impact
- Establish consistent decision-making frameworks across sites, balancing operational risk and cost
Facilities Operations and Execution
- Oversee mission-critical facilities to ensure safety, reliability, and operational excellence
- Balance short-term operational needs with long-term scalability and evolution
- Partner with on-site teams to support daily operations while improving planning and prioritization
Capital Projects and Vendor Management
- Own facilities-related capital and operating budgets
- Lead large-scale capital projects from planning through delivery across multiple sites and geographies
- Manage external contractors and service providers, including scope definition, pricing, and performance;
- Ensure competitive pricing through benchmarking, bid processes, and strong business judgment
Compliance, Safety, and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, security, and government regulations
- Operate effectively in security-sensitive and regulated environments
- Identify, assess, and mitigate facilities-related risks across all locations
Leadership and Collaboration
- Build and lead a high-impact facilities organization
- Act as a trusted advisor to executive and cross-functional leaders
- Promote a hands-on, ownership-driven culture aligned with company values
Expansion and Scalability
- Lead planning and execution for new facilities and site expansions
- Develop repeatable templates and playbooks for scalable execution
- Advise internal teams and select external stakeholders on siting, deployment, and growth decisions
Qualifications:
- 15 or more years of senior leadership experience in facilities, infrastructure, or operations
- Experience in technically complex environments such as semiconductor fabrication, data centers, or high-precision labs
- Proven success leading large, multi-site capital projects;
- Strong vendor and contractor management experience
- Solid understanding of regulatory, safety, and compliance requirements
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced and evolving organizations
Preferred:
- Familiarity with quantum hardware facility requirements, including dilution refrigerators and vibration-sensitive environments
- Experience supporting facilities across international sites
- Ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on levels in lean, high-complexity organizations
Benefits and Compensation:
Salary Range: $250,000 to $300,000 per year (base salary)
Compensation Notes: Final compensation depends on experience, skills, and geographic location, in line with local and state regulations.
