Job Title: Advanced Layout Automation Engineer - 830. Location: Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, USA
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with design and fabrication scientists to develop mask layouts for next-generation ion trap devices.
- Develop scripting and automation tools for layout routing and verification to accelerate design timelines.
- Work with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure layouts follow industry best practices.
- Coordinate with semiconductor foundries to ensure layouts and tapeouts comply with process design kits (PDKs) and manufacturing requirements.
- Design, verify, and optimize hierarchical IC and MEMS layouts using EDA tools;
- Develop automation solutions using scripting, machine learning, and layout optimization techniques.
- Support layout verification and tapeout processes for production-ready designs.
- Work with multiple foundries and incorporate new design rules into layout workflows.
- Contribute to silicon photonics and MEMS layout development where applicable.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary R&D teams throughout the design and fabrication process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with hierarchical IC or MEMS layout using EDA tools such as Cadence Virtuoso or KLayout from initial design through tapeout.
- Must be authorized to work as a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, green card holder, refugee, or asylee).
- Must satisfy U.S. government national security requirements.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with integrated circuit layout and simulation using Cadence Virtuoso.
- Experience developing automation tools, space-based routers, and machine learning solutions for layout workflows.
- Minimum 5 years of experience completing tapeouts and delivering layouts to mask shops.
- Experience working with external semiconductor foundries and multiple PDKs;
- Familiarity with new design rule implementation.
- Experience using Linux operating systems.
- Experience with SKILL scripting and Python libraries such as GDSpy.
- Minimum 2 years of experience using MEMS layout tools such as L-Edit or KLayout.
- Experience with silicon photonics layout.
- Experience working in cross-functional research and development environments.

- Annual salary: $116,000 to $140,000, based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
