Job Description

Job Title: Entry Level Hardware Developer 2026. Location: Multiple locations across the United States, including Sandy Springs, Poughkeepsie, Lowell, Rochester, Tucson, Research Triangle Park, Durham, Hopewell Junction, San Jose, Dallas, Houston, Austin, Herndon, and New York.

Job Type: Entry Level, Full-Time, Hybrid

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and support hardware, firmware, and semiconductor technologies used in IBM infrastructure products.
  • Participate in logic (RTL) design and verification, physical design, and analog/IO design activities.
  • Contribute to electronic design automation and circuit design processes.
  • Perform signal integrity, power integrity, and hardware analysis;
  • Support microelectronics packaging, materials analysis, and characterization efforts.
  • Assist with mechanical design, modeling, and technology integration projects.
  • Design and validate printed circuit boards, thermal systems, and power delivery solutions.
  • Conduct processor, component, and system testing, validation, and characterization.
  • Support firmware architecture, development, testing, and failure analysis.
  • Provide customer and field engineering support as needed.
  • Contribute to product quality assurance, specification development, and analytics initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Optics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Previous project or internship experience in computer hardware development or testing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Passion for technology and engineering.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, initiative, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of VHDL, Verilog, RTL, SPICE, TCL, UVM, verification, and testing methodologies.
  • Coursework or experience in VLSI design, microprocessors, computer architecture, and signal integrity.
  • Programming experience with C/C++, Python, or other object-oriented languages.
  • Familiarity with Git, Linux, debuggers, and Agile development practices;
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, TCL, Bash, Perl, or Java.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools and 3D modeling software.
  • Familiarity with hardware architectures including VLSI, FPGA, MIPS, RISC-V, ARM, x86, Arduino, and quantum systems.

  • Salary Range: $96,000 - $144,000 per year, depending on skills, experience, and location.
