Job Description
Job Title: Associate Process Engineer. Location: Milpitas, California, United States
This role works closely with Process Engineers to develop and improve assembly steps for research and volume production systems; The position requires hands on experience in packaging, processing, and equipment handling, with strong attention to quality and precision.
Responsibilities:
- Fabricate and assemble electro optical devices, including die attach, wire bonding, and inspection with high precision.
- Co design and co develop assembly process flows under guidance of Process Engineers.
- Build subassemblies for QC subsystems with electronics and silicon photonics chips on PCBAs for cryogenic and room temperature vacuum systems.
- Lead and manage assembly and testing tools to ensure strong performance and throughput.
- Develop and implement best practices to improve product quality and operational efficiency;
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve assembly design and production flow.
- Troubleshoot and analyze assembly equipment to resolve technical issues.
- Document processes, results, deviations, and lessons learned to support continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or equivalent experience in engineering, physics, or related field.
- At least 2 years of experience solving opto mechanical assembly process challenges.
- Experience with semiconductor packaging and inspection processes such as die attach, wire bonding, optical coupling, flip chip, and underfill.
- Familiarity with opto mechanical packaging equipment, suppliers, and quality systems;
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self starter with the ability to work in fast paced environments.
Preferred:
- Experience using data processing tools such as Python and JMP to support process development.
- Familiarity with back end semiconductor assembly equipment and testing methodologies.
- Ability to meet short deadlines while following disciplined work processes.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn new tools and equipment;
- Strong teamwork skills and readiness to support colleagues.
Benefits and Compensation:
- U.S. base pay range: 43 to 47 USD per hour.
- Bay Area pay range: 52 to 55 USD per hour.
- Compensation may vary based on education, experience, skills, and location.
- Full time roles are eligible for equity and benefits;
- Base pay is one part of the total compensation package and may change in the future.
