Device Backend Technician, Quantum AI

Job Description

Job Title: Device Backend Technician, Quantum AI. Location: Goleta, CA, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Clean and prepare dies for quantum device builds.
  • Image and inspect dies using optical inspection equipment.
  • Document defect types and generate detailed die defect reports.
  • Manage die and quantum device inventory;
  • Hybridize devices using a flip-chip bump bonder.
  • Measure post-hybridization parameters, including alignment and chip gap.
  • Work closely with backend engineers to develop robust die preparation and hybridization processes.
  • Follow all cleanroom procedures and safety protocols.
  • Contribute to the backend processing and delivery of high-quality quantum processors for packaging.
  • Perform die leveling, cleaning, imaging, inspection, and post-measurement activities as part of quantum device builds.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree, trade school certification, relevant technical training, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience working in a cleanroom environment.
  • At least 3 years of experience with microfabrication equipment and processes;
  • At least 3 years of experience with photoresist stripping, optical inspection equipment, profilers, and die handling.
  • At least 3 years of experience handling silicon wafers or similar substrate form factors.

Preferred:

  • Experience with flip-chip bonding or die-cleaning processes.
  • Experience with inventory management.
  • Experience using a Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
  • Proficiency with Google Sheets, Docs, Slides, or similar productivity applications.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Salary range: $99,000 to $140,000 USD per year.
  • 15% target bonus.
