Job Description

Job Title: Lead Facilities Maintenance Technician - 884. Location: Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, USA

Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate daily facility maintenance operations and assigned work orders.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and leadership to maintenance staff and contractors.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain facility systems, including:
  • HVAC equipment
  • Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • Electrical systems
  • Plumbing systems
  • Mechanical equipment
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Monitor and maintain temperature, humidity, and environmental controls in laboratory and production areas.
• Operate and troubleshoot building automation platforms such as Honeywell EBI, Carrier i-Vu, or equivalent systems.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance activities to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
• Support facility projects, renovations, equipment installations, and contractor oversight;
• Manage contractors and service providers to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project requirements.
• Coordinate contractor scheduling, permits, access, worksite inspections, and safety requirements.
• Conduct contractor safety orientations covering emergency procedures, PPE requirements, and site-specific hazards.
• Ensure contractor compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests, facility issues, equipment failures, environmental alarms, and utility interruptions.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support.
• Partner with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) teams to maintain a safe workplace.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspections, work orders, contractor documentation, and equipment records.
• Assist with inventory management for maintenance tools, spare parts, and supplies;
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase facility reliability and operational efficiency.
• Perform after-hours, weekend, overtime, and other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 5 years of facilities maintenance experience in commercial, industrial, laboratory, or manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Experience with building automation and environmental monitoring systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills;
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
• Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, and service providers.
• Knowledge of contractor safety management and safe work practices.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
• Effective communication and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with CMMS software and Microsoft Office.
• Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in mechanical spaces, indoors and outdoors.
• Ability to participate in overtime, weekend work, and on-call rotations;
• Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, green card holder, refugee, or asylee).
• Due to U.S. government security requirements, candidates must not be nationals of the People's Republic of China or Russia unless they are also U.S. citizens.
• All candidates for safety-sensitive positions must successfully complete a pre-employment drug test.

Preferred:

• Technical school, trade certification, or Associate Degree in Facilities Maintenance, HVAC, Electrical, or a related field.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
• Preferred certifications include:
  • EPA Universal Certification
  • HVAC Certification
  • Electrical or Mechanical Trade License
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
  • Forklift or Aerial Lift Certification
