Job Description

Job Title: High Speed Circuit Designer, Quantum AI. Location: Goleta, California, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop high-performance board-level electronics for quantum control and measurement systems.
  • Support the deployment, operation, and maintenance of electronics used across Google's fleet of quantum computers.
  • Contribute to the architecture, design, implementation, and deployment of next-generation quantum computer control and measurement systems.
  • Collaborate with ASIC designers to create system-level solutions that improve system density and performance.
  • Lead complex board-level hardware development projects from concept through deployment;
  • Design printed circuit boards (PCBs) incorporating GHz-rate data converters, FPGAs, processors, and other high-speed components.
  • Document hardware designs, testing procedures, and measurement results.
  • Present technical findings and project updates to engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Support team members as they integrate developed hardware into larger quantum computing systems.
  • Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver reliable and scalable hardware solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in analog, digital, or mixed-signal circuit design;
  • At least 3 years of experience designing printed circuit boards (PCBs) containing GHz-rate data converters, field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), or processors.
  • Strong understanding of high-speed electronic system design and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred:

  • Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience across multiple electrical engineering disciplines, including FPGA, analog/mixed-signal (AMS), or RF design at the board or chip level.
  • Experience leading hardware development projects from specification through successful deployment.
  • Experience managing external vendors and technical partners.
  • Knowledge of packaging, signal integrity (SI), and power integrity (PI) analysis tools.
  • Understanding of board-level design practices for analog, mixed-signal, RF, and FPGA systems.
  • Experience with industry-standard electronic design and simulation tools.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Annual salary: $159,000 to $230,000 (USD) based on skills, experience, and education.
  • 15% target annual bonus.
