Job Description

Job Title: High Speed Circuit Designer, Quantum AI. Location: Goleta, CA, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Support the deployment and operation of electronics across Google's fleet of quantum computers.
  • Contribute to the design of quantum control and measurement systems for next-generation quantum computers.
  • Work on control and measurement systems from initial architecture through implementation and deployment.
  • Use RF, analog, and mixed-signal expertise to develop high-performance board-level designs for quantum computing systems.
  • Collaborate with ASIC designers to architect system-level solutions that improve system density and performance.
  • Lead complex board-level projects through completion in collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Document designs, measurements, and technical results;
  • Present design results and technical findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support team members as they integrate and use the developed electronics within larger quantum computing systems.
  • Collaborate across FPGA, analog/mixed-signal, RF, and other electrical engineering disciplines.
  • Contribute to system development from specification discovery through deployment.
  • Work with vendors and support successful system deployments where required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in analog, digital, or mixed-signal circuit design;
  • At least 3 years of experience designing PCBs containing GHz-rate data converters, FPGAs, or processors.
  • Understanding of board-level electrical engineering design practices across relevant disciplines, including analog/mixed-signal, RF, and FPGA design.
  • Experience with relevant electrical engineering design tools.

Preferred:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience across multiple electrical engineering disciplines, including FPGA, analog/mixed-signal, or RF design at the board and potentially chip level.
  • Experience taking designs from specification discovery through system deployment.
  • Experience leading development projects and successfully deploying systems.
  • Experience with vendor management;
  • Experience using packaging and signal integrity/power integrity (SI/PI) tools.
  • Strong understanding of industry-standard board-level design practices.
  • Experience with FPGA, analog/mixed-signal, RF, or related design tools.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Salary range: $159,000 to $230,000 USD per year.
  • 15% target bonus.
  • Equity compensation;
  • Additional Google employee benefits.
  • Compensation is determined based on job-related skills, experience, education, and training.
