Manager, Quantum Model Validation

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Manager, Quantum Model Validation. Location: Palo Alto, California, United States (Remote Available)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects focused on developing and validating quantum optical system models using real quantum hardware data.
  • Manage and mentor a team responsible for quantum model validation and system architecture analysis.
  • Provide real-time technical analysis and feedback to engineering teams regarding quantum hardware performance.
  • Collaborate with photonics, electronics, systems, manufacturing, and architecture teams to ensure consistent, data-driven system models.
  • Validate and refine architectural models against experimental hardware results;
  • Support the development of scalable fault-tolerant quantum computing architectures.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts across multiple teams, locations, and time zones.
  • Drive continuous improvements in model accuracy, validation processes, and system performance.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Quantum Physics or a related discipline.
  • Specialization in quantum optics or photonics is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of academic or industry research experience in quantum computing or quantum information.
  • Strong knowledge of linear optical quantum computing and associated error models.
  • Experience performing or closely collaborating on quantum optics experiments;
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering and research teams.

Preferred:

  • Experience programming in Python.
  • Experience using collaborative software development tools such as GitHub.
  • Experience validating complex quantum hardware models using experimental data.
  • Strong understanding of photonic quantum computing architectures and fault-tolerant quantum systems.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Base Salary (U.S.): $190,000 - $210,000 USD
  • Bay Area Salary: $210,000 - $240,000 USD
