Job Description
Job Title: Manager, System Commissioning. Location: Palo Alto, California, United States
This role guides the long term strategy for commissioning PsiQuantum quantum computing systems and drives technical issues to resolution; The position oversees all aspects of system commissioning, from planning and design reviews to testing, reporting, and vendor coordination.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and grow a team of engineers focused on system commissioning.
- Lead commissioning projects for quantum computing systems.
- Define and execute commissioning strategies from initial engagement through final reporting.
- Identify large scale deployment risks and develop mitigation plans.
- Develop and maintain checklists, test capabilities, and standard procedures to verify system installation.
- Align commissioning plans with subsystem validation and quantum validation criteria;
- Coordinate with on site teams to support installation activities across electrical, optical, mechanical, thermal, software, and safety areas.
- Oversee vendor coordination, script development, safety support, and documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physical science.
- 10 or more years of industry experience in system validation, new product introduction, or system engineering.
- At least 4 years of management experience.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience developing procedures and work instructions.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex systems under pressure;
- Experience working across multiple teams in dynamic environments.
- Hands on experience with device installation, testing, software or firmware upgrades, re bootstrapping, and system decommissioning.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, optical network diagrams, mechanical drawings, and specifications.
Preferred:
- Experience commissioning and maintaining data centers, server rooms, or supercomputing facilities.
Benefits and Compensation:
- U.S. Base Pay Range: 156,000 to 175,000 USD.
- Bay Area Pay Range: 195,000 to 205,000 USD.
- Full time roles are eligible for equity and benefits;
- Compensation depends on education, experience, skills, location, and business needs.
- Base pay is one part of the total compensation package and may change in the future.
