Quantum Engineer - HPC Systems

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Quantum Engineer - HPC Systems. Location: Westford, Massachusetts - Connecticut - New Hampshire

This role builds and manages a hybrid quantum and HPC platform inside the new Accelerated Quantum Center in the Boston area; It combines GPU clusters with multiple quantum hardware technologies to create fast, reliable hybrid workflows.

Responsibilities:

  • Integrate quantum hardware such as neutral atom, trapped ion, and superconducting systems with HPC platforms using APIs, middleware, and orchestration layers like CUDA Q.
  • Create hybrid workflows that distribute tasks between GPU clusters and quantum devices.
  • Work with quantum hardware suppliers to set up connectivity, control layers, and shared performance standards.
  • Install applications, deploy hybrid workloads, and evaluate system performance with internal teams;
  • Coordinate with control system engineers to meet environmental, timing, and interface needs for quantum systems.
  • Build and benchmark hybrid applications in chemistry, materials science, machine learning, and optimization;
  • Contribute to roadmap planning for new quantum modalities and new SDK integrations.
  • Represent the company at conferences and technical events;
  • Produce user documentation and integration guides.
  • Improve software stacks, orchestration layers, and data pipelines linking HPC and quantum systems.

Qualifications:

  • Twelve or more years of experience with HPC system administration, Linux, Slurm, data management, and application support.
  • Experience with CUDA Q, Qiskit, PennyLane, Cirq, Braket, and other quantum tools.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C plus plus, or Rust;
  • Deep understanding of HPC environments, Slurm, and GPU based systems;
  • Knowledge of quantum hardware such as neutral atom, trapped ion, superconducting, or photonic platforms.
  • Degree in physics, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science. PhD preferred.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Experience working with quantum hardware providers.
  • Knowledge of quantum classical orchestration frameworks and low latency data pathways.
  • Familiarity with cloud based quantum services and HPC standards;
  • Contributions to open source quantum tools or academic projects;
  • Experience linking physics teams with HPC engineering teams.
  • Experience representing a company in standards groups or research consortia.

Benefits and Instructions:

  • Salary depends on location and experience.
  • Level 5 range: 224000 to 356500 USD.
  • Level 6 range: 272000 to 425500 USD.
