Job Description
Job Title: Quantum Hardware Developer. Location: Albany, New York, United States
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership to a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists developing IBM's next-generation quantum processors.
- Define and execute the process integration strategy for advanced quantum processor manufacturing.
- Lead cross-functional programs across research, development, and manufacturing teams.
- Drive technical decision-making and resource allocation to achieve performance, yield, and scalability goals.
- Develop, integrate, and scale complex semiconductor and quantum fabrication processes;
- Identify and implement innovative process improvements to enhance qubit performance and manufacturability.
- Optimize manufacturing variability, process integration, and production yield.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in quantum processor manufacturing.
- Mentor engineers and scientists while providing technical guidance across the organization.
- Communicate technical results through patents, scientific publications, and executive-level technical reviews.
- Represent IBM at industry conferences, professional societies, and external collaborations.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent related experience.
- Proven technical leadership in material and process engineering, particularly for qubit processor manufacturing.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects or technical programs;
- Strong expertise in semiconductor manufacturing and quantum processor fabrication.
- Deep understanding of process integration, manufacturing variability, yield optimization, and scalable fabrication processes.
Preferred:
- Doctorate degree in Engineering or a related field.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Annual salary: $192,000 to $222,000, depending on skills, experience, and location.
