Job Description
Job Title: Quantum Research Engineer, Quantum Computing. Location: Pasadena, California, United States
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop cryogenic hardware systems for quantum computing applications.
- Create high-density packaging solutions for quantum processor units.
- Develop cryogenic mechanical designs for signal conditioning sub-assemblies and signal delivery systems.
- Perform simulation-driven design work to improve shielding, filtering, and electromagnetic interference mitigation.
- Use Finite Element Analysis tools for thermal, mechanical, and electromagnetic modeling;
- Lead end-to-end product development including requirements, conceptual design, detailed design, manufacturing, integration, and testing.
- Participate in design reviews, requirements discussions, and technical evaluations with cross-functional teams.
- Improve engineering standards, workflows, and operational processes for cryogenic hardware development;
- Document design work, test results, and engineering decisions clearly for internal teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related field.
- 6+ years of relevant industry experience (or equivalent academic experience for advanced degrees).
- Strong experience in cryogenic mechanical design and full product development lifecycle.
- Knowledge of design for manufacturing principles;
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis for thermal and mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks.
Preferred:
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
- Experience in quantum hardware development or quantum processor packaging.
- Knowledge of RF and microwave engineering principles;
- Experience with PCB design and manufacturing.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Annual salary range: 142,800 to 193,200 USD (Pasadena, CA base range).
