Quantum Research Scientist Intern

Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Research Scientist Intern – Fall 2026. Location: Remote (United States, California)

Job Type: Internship (Full-Time, Research Internship)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop agentic AI systems for quantum computing applications.
  • Build prototype pipelines for quantum Electronic Design Automation (EDA) focused on superconducting qubits.
  • Collect, organize, and curate datasets for digital twin development and quantum simulation workflows.
  • Accelerate and deploy quantum calibration primitives for hardware optimization;
  • Combine electromagnetic and quantum simulations to extract system parameters and construct accurate Hamiltonians.
  • Contribute to high-performance tools for quantum design, measurement, and optimization workflows.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong Python programming skills.
  • Solid understanding of quantum computing fundamentals and at least one qubit modality;
  • Familiarity with electromagnetic simulation tools such as Ansys HFSS, Palace, or similar.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.

Preferred:

  • Hands-on experience with quantum hardware design, calibration, or operation (superconducting qubits, ion traps, neutral atoms, or similar systems).
  • Experience building agentic AI or LLM-driven workflows for scientific automation.
  • Familiarity with GPU-accelerated quantum simulation tools such as cuQuantum or CUDA-Q.
  • Knowledge of classical machine learning methods;
  • Publications in quantum computing or applied physics venues (PRX Quantum, Quantum, npj Quantum Information).
