Senior Quantum Field Engineer - Bioscience

Job Title: Senior Quantum Field Engineer - Bioscience. Location: Remote, US; Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Responsibilities:

• Explain IonQ’s quantum portfolio, including computing, networking, security, sensing, and applications, to prospective clients.
• Lead client discussions, mapping quantum algorithms to application code, with a strong focus on biosciences, chemistry, materials, optimization, and generative AI.
• Execute Proof-of-Concepts with the IonQ Application team.
• Gather client feedback and share insights with Product Management and Engineering teams.
• Handle competitive objections and translate business needs into technical work projects.
• Develop assets to explain features of quantum applications and products;
• Guide client discovery sessions from ideation to production workflows.
• Collaborate with marketing, developer relations, and business development to promote IonQ’s technology.
• Attend industry conferences and client meetings; travel expected up to 20%.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years in the biosciences industry leading technology initiatives or equivalent experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Physics, or Engineering.
• Passion for applied quantum mechanics across computing, network, security, and sensing domains.
• Strong communication, persuasion, and emotional intelligence for client-facing roles.
• Preferred: Master’s or PhD in a STEM field;
• Hands-on experience with Qiskit, Cirq, or other quantum computing SDKs.
• Proficiency in Python and Jupyter Notebooks.
• Strong full-stack architecture skills and experience leading technical events.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Base salary range: $192,979 - $252,659 USD, with total compensation including bonus and equity.

• Compensation varies based on education, qualifications, experience, office location, and internal equity calibration.

Location & Travel:

• Remote, hybrid, or onsite from offices in College Park, MD; Bothell, WA; Toronto, Canada; Basel, Switzerland.
• Travel: Up to 20% domestic and international.
