Job Description
Job Title: Senior Software Engineer. Location: Redmond, Washington, United States
Job Type: Full-Time (Hybrid, 3 days/week in office)
Responsibilities:
- Build AI evaluation frameworks and benchmarks to ensure system quality and prevent regressions across multiple scenarios.
- Scale the vulnerability discovery pipeline to support significantly higher throughput while improving reliability.
- Manage large-scale compute infrastructure and AI services across Windows engineering systems;
- Optimize compute capacity, scheduling, queuing, orchestration, and resource prioritization across AI model hosting environments.
- Develop cost estimation models and improve infrastructure efficiency through cost-of-goods analysis.
- Help operate and scale Microsoft's autonomous security infrastructure used to discover, validate, and prioritize software vulnerabilities.
- Design and maintain distributed systems capable of supporting AI-driven vulnerability discovery at Windows scale.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve system performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to secure software development practices that help protect Windows users worldwide.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with at least 4 years of software engineering experience.
- Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- Experience programming in one or more of the following languages:
- C
- C++
- C#
- Java
- JavaScript
- Python
- Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire and every two years thereafter.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with at least 6 years of engineering experience.
- Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of engineering experience.
- Experience building or operating production-scale AI agent or Large Language Model (LLM) systems.
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps pipelines and CI/CD automation;
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure, including compute management, capacity planning, and cost optimization.
- Experience using C# and Microsoft technologies such as Microsoft Copilot CLI.
- Experience designing, building, or operating large-scale distributed systems, cloud services, orchestration platforms, scheduling systems, autoscaling infrastructure, or multi-tenant compute environments.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Base salary range across most U.S. locations: USD $119,800 to $234,700 per year.
- Base salary range for the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area: USD $160,200 to $261,000 per year.
- Eligible employees may receive additional compensation and Microsoft benefits based on role and location.
- Hybrid work schedule with 3 days per week in the office.
- Travel requirement of less than 25%.
