Job Description
Job Title: Senior Staff RF Test Engineer. Location: Louisville, Colorado, USA
Responsibilities:
- Lead development and execution of RF component and subsystem testing campaigns.
- Develop, improve, and maintain RF testing methodologies and processes.
- Assist systems engineering teams in defining measurable product requirements.
- Monitor, maintain, and calibrate RF test equipment and laboratory capabilities.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to RF test engineers and technicians.
- Analyze RF test data and prepare detailed technical reports;
- Collaborate with design engineers to improve hardware performance and manufacturability.
- Perform integration and testing of RF components and subassemblies.
- Verify and troubleshoot RF subsystems throughout spacecraft integration.
- Develop test plans and ground support equipment (GSE) for verification and risk reduction.
- Develop, maintain, and improve automated RF test scripts.
- Analyze testing results and recommend improvements for efficiency and product quality.
- Work with cross-functional engineering teams to troubleshoot technical issues;
- Conduct environmental testing to validate system performance under various operating conditions.
- Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations to improve testability.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and engineering standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Extensive experience testing and troubleshooting RF circuits and RF systems.
- Expert knowledge of RF test equipment including:
- Network analyzers
- Spectrum analyzers
- Arbitrary waveform generators
- Strong experience with RF PCB-based circuits.
- Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, and LabVIEW for automation and data analysis.
- Strong understanding of RF architectures, signal propagation, modulation techniques, antenna theory, and RF performance metrics.
- Experience handling and operating spacecraft flight hardware.
- Familiarity with spacecraft architecture and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
- Experience leading engineering teams and mentoring junior engineers.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems and spacecraft operations.
- Experience working in contamination-controlled and ESD-sensitive environments.
- Experience testing high-power RF electronics.
