Job Title: Senior Technical Account Manager, Gate Model Research. Location: New Haven, CT, USA
Responsibilities:
- Support customers with quantum computing programming workflows, including best practices for implementing algorithms using D-Wave's Ocean SDK and Leap APIs.
- Help customers debug common programming and code-related issues.
- Serve as a technical resource on quantum computing, industry trends, and competitive positioning.
- Present D-Wave's quantum computing capabilities to research prospects and understand their most important computational challenges.
- Map customer challenges to potential quantum computing projects and applications;
- Explain D-Wave's vision, strategy, and product roadmap to both executive-level and technical stakeholders at research organizations.
- Communicate complex technical information clearly across different platforms and audiences.
- Provide thoughtful technical guidance and maintain a strong customer-support mindset.
- Deliver technical presentations at conferences, webinars, seminars, and other large events.
- Support marketing activities by hosting webinars, staffing conference booths, and representing D-Wave at industry events.
- Conduct regular technical meetings with clients working on active research projects;
- Help customers understand and use the error detection capabilities of D-Wave's dual-rail qubit system.
- Build and maintain long-term technical relationships with customer teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify and recommend new research projects that can benefit from D-Wave's solutions.
- Communicate customer requirements to internal product and development teams and advocate for customer needs.
- Collaborate with sales, product, professional services, and business development teams to ensure customer needs are addressed and value is delivered.
- Travel approximately 30% to 50% for conferences, client meetings, training sessions, and sales events.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM field.
- Fluency in English.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience with Python and Qiskit programming.
- Familiarity with standard algorithms used in gate-model quantum computing.
- Strong foundation in quantum information science and quantum computing;
- Experience with tools and platforms such as GitHub and REST APIs.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience contributing to quantum computing applications, quantum error correction, or quantum computing algorithms is highly desired.
Preferred:
- Postdoctoral research experience.
- Specialization in quantum chemistry, quantum machine learning, or materials science.
- Project management experience.
- Experience in a technical customer-facing role such as Sales Engineer, Technical Account Manager, Presales, Solution Integrator, Solution Architect, or Customer Success.
- Experience with enterprise software or presales/account management involving large research organizations.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Annual pay range: $128,000 to $168,000 for the hybrid New Haven, CT position.
