Job Description
Job Title: Senior Technical Program Manager, AWS Center for Quantum Computing. Location: Pasadena, California, USA
You will work closely with technical leads and TPMs to scope projects, develop detailed schedules, manage risks, and optimize resource allocation; You’ll also help define and improve project management practices, tools, and processes across the Center.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with engineering teams to scope and manage exploratory R&D projects for quantum hardware.
- Manage project risks and track progress across multiple overlapping workstreams;
- Develop and refine tools for planning, scheduling, and reporting project status.
- Coordinate across teams to resolve conflicts and optimize resource usage;
- Support the implementation of best practices for systems engineering and technical risk management.
- Promote visibility of progress to internal stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Contribute to shaping the overall project management framework at AWS Center for Quantum Computing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical or Physics) or Physics.
- At least 5 years of experience in technical program management in infrastructure, complex systems, or systems engineering.
- Minimum 7 years managing scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality in technical programs;
Preferred:
- Master’s or PhD in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
- Familiarity with project management tools like Microsoft Project Server.
- Experience in academic or R&D environments;
- Knowledge of systems engineering, quantitative risk management, and decision-making under uncertainty.
- Familiarity with cryogenic systems or semiconductor fabrication.

Compensation and Benefits: Base salary ranges from $133,900 to $231,400 per year depending on location and experience. Additional benefits may include equity, sign-on bonuses, medical and financial plans, and more.
