Job Title: Cryostat Equipment Engineer. Location: Milpitas, California, USA
Job Type: Full-Time, Entry Level, Onsite
Responsibilities:
- Install, commission, and maintain advanced cryogenic systems for quantum computing hardware.
- Integrate cryostats with mechanical, electrical, and control subsystems.
- Operate and maintain high-vacuum and ultra-high-vacuum systems including pumps, valves, gauges, and leak detection equipment.
- Develop commissioning procedures, acceptance tests, and system validation protocols.
- Monitor cryostat performance and perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective maintenance;
- Interface with instrumentation systems such as temperature sensors, pressure transducers, flow controllers, and data acquisition systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including quantum hardware, facilities, controls, and safety teams.
- Maintain detailed technical documentation including schematics, maintenance logs, and system updates.
- Support continuous improvement of system reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards related to cryogens, vacuum systems, and high-voltage equipment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience with high-vacuum or ultra-high-vacuum systems.
- Experience installing, commissioning, and maintaining complex laboratory or industrial equipment;
- Familiarity with cryogenic systems such as dilution refrigerators, liquid helium systems, or cryocoolers.
- Experience with instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
Preferred:
- Experience with cryostats in quantum computing or superconducting/low-temperature physics environments.
- Knowledge of vacuum system design and helium leak detection techniques.
- Familiarity with control systems such as PLCs or LabVIEW.
- Experience in cleanroom or semiconductor environments.
- Advanced degree in a relevant field.

- Base salary range: $110,000 to $145,000 depending on location and experience.
