Job Description

Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer, Control Systems. Location: Berkeley, CA

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to define and refine system requirements.
  • Design schematics and perform PCB layout for complex digital, analog, and RF circuits.
  • Develop and execute rigorous test plans using tools like oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and vector network analyzers (VNAs).
  • Drive designs through the complete development cycle—from concept to manufacturing and validation.
  • Support debugging and performance optimization of control hardware used in operational quantum systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical hardware design;
  • Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation: oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, VNAs.
  • Proven track record of owning designs through the full development cycle.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines.

Preferred:

  • Expertise in analog design and simulation tools (e.g., SPICE).
  • Understanding of signal processing: Nyquist zones, convolution, and digital modulation.
  • Experience with FPGA development using Verilog or VHDL;
  • Familiarity with Python and scientific computing libraries (e.g., NumPy, SciPy).
  • Knowledge of RF design and testing.
