Hardware Offensive Security - Silicon Architecture

Job Description

Job Title: Manager, Hardware Offensive Security – Silicon Architecture. Location: Santa Clara, California, United States

This role is responsible for identifying weaknesses in hardware designs, testing security defenses, and improving the resilience of chip-level platforms against modern threats; You will manage a specialized offensive security team and work closely with hardware architects and design engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead offensive security research targeting silicon and hardware security features
  • Design and execute penetration testing strategies at the chip and microarchitecture level
  • Identify and exploit vulnerabilities in secure boot, cryptographic engines, and trusted execution environments
  • Analyze hardware security assumptions and challenge architectural design decisions
  • Provide clear mitigation strategies for physical, fault injection, and side-channel attacks;
  • Collaborate with architecture, design, and verification teams early in the development lifecycle
  • Partner with internal and external security researchers to track emerging attack methods
  • Publish internal research findings and contribute to industry security standards
  • Mentor and guide team members while building a strong offensive security culture

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • PhD is preferred
  • 8 or more years of experience in hardware security, silicon architecture, or penetration testing
  • At least 2 years of people or technical leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of microarchitecture and SoC design principles;
  • Deep knowledge of hardware security primitives such as secure boot, key management, and cryptographic accelerators
  • Hands-on experience with side-channel attacks, fault injection, and hardware reverse engineering
  • Proven experience leading offensive security projects in hardware environments
  • Strong programming skills in C, C++, Python, or embedded assembly

Preferred:

  • Experience with FPGA prototyping and hardware emulation platforms
  • Familiarity with post-quantum cryptography concepts
  • Experience working with secure hardware enclaves;
  • Contributions to hardware security research, publications, or open research communities

  • Base salary range: 224,000 USD to 356,500 USD, based on location and experience
