IT Network Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: IT Network Engineer II. Location: Broomfield, CO, USA

Job Type: Full-Time, On-Site (Hybrid up to 2 days/week with approval)

Responsibilities:

  • Install, rack, cable, configure, and maintain network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and other hardware in data center and on-premises environments.
  • Monitor network performance and respond to alerts or service disruptions;
  • Troubleshoot network issues escalated from IT support teams and provide after-hours support when needed.
  • Support vulnerability assessments and implement measures to enhance network security.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, operational procedures, and workflow processes.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on network upgrades and infrastructure improvements.
  • Travel occasionally to other U.S. or international sites to ensure project delivery, oversight, and team mentorship.
  • Respond to, coordinate, and resolve after-hours network events or crises;
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in enterprise-wide network strategy and roadmap execution.
  • Mentor team members and support collaboration across IT and business units.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED minimum (Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field preferred).
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Network Engineer supporting enterprise-level networks, switch infrastructure, and firewall systems globally.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, topologies, and security principles (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPN, ACLs, etc.);
  • Hands-on experience with installing and configuring network devices from leading manufacturers (Juniper, Cisco, Palo Alto, etc.).
  • Practical experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (SolarWinds, Wireshark, SNMP, etc.).
  • Experience with scripting or automation tools (Python, Perl, etc.) to support network operations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Preferred:

  • Relevant network certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) highly desired.
  • Experience with public cloud providers (Azure, AWS) and ISPs;
  • Experience mentoring or collaborating in high-performing engineering teams.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a fast-moving, dynamic work environment.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Annual salary: $86,000 – $108,000, depending on skills, experience, and qualifications.
