Quantum Software Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Quantum Software Engineer. Location: Santa Clara, California - Remote United States

The cuQuantum group works at the intersection of quantum technologies and GPU accelerated software; The team collaborates across product, engineering, and research to deliver reliable and efficient software deployed in supercomputing centers and cloud environments worldwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain high performance libraries and APIs in C++ and Python for accelerated and distributed quantum and high performance computing
  • Lead end to end product development including design, implementation, debugging, testing, optimization, and documentation
  • Prototype and evaluate new quantum algorithms and proof of concept implementations
  • Transition successful prototypes into production quality software;
  • Improve software quality, scalability, maintainability, and performance through modern engineering practices
  • Collaborate with product management, architects, and internal and external partners to define requirements and contribute to technical roadmaps
  • Communicate technical designs, results, and guidelines through documentation, reviews, and technical discussions

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Quantum Computing, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5 or more years of industry or academic experience working on quantum circuit simulation techniques
  • Proven ownership of large scale technical projects
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and or Python;
  • Experience with GPU accelerated and parallel programming models such as CUDA
  • Familiarity with MPI or similar distributed computing technologies
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with quantum programming frameworks such as CUDA Q, Qiskit, PennyLane, Cirq, QTip, Stim, or Braket
  • Experience integrating Python libraries with numerical ecosystems such as NumPy and accelerated variants like CuPy, JAX, or cuNumeric
  • Experience analyzing, benchmarking, and optimizing software across CPU and GPU architectures;
  • Strong skills in performance profiling and scalability analysis

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base salary range:
    • 152,000 USD to 218,500 USD for Level 3
    • 184,000 USD to 287,500 USD for Level 4
  • Final salary determined by location, experience, and internal pay structure
  • Eligibility for equity
  • Comprehensive employee benefits
