Research Scientist, Processor Test & Measurement

Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Research Scientist, Processor Test & Measurement. Location: Pasadena, California, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and test novel calibration and optimization tools for Quantum Error Correction on large-scale quantum processors.
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team of physicists, engineers, and scientists focused on quantum processor control and error correction.
  • Characterize quantum systems using experimental measurement techniques and validate results using theoretical or simulation tools.
  • Contribute to high-impact research projects aligned with quantum computing engineering roadmaps;
  • Analyze and interpret quantum data from processor test and measurement systems.
  • Collaborate across teams to improve quantum calibration, optimization, and system performance.
  • Stay updated with advancements in experimental quantum computation and apply findings to ongoing research.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics.
  • At least 3 years of experience characterizing quantum systems through measurement.
  • Strong ability to validate and interpret experimental data using theory or simulation tools.
  • Proficiency in scientific programming environments;
  • Experience working in multi-team, cross-disciplinary research projects.

Preferred:

  • Expertise in superconducting qubits, cavity/circuit QED, and microwave control of superconducting circuits.
  • Knowledge of two-qubit gate dynamics and readout modeling techniques.
  • Experience with low-level pulse optimization;
  • Experience in automated quantum processor bring-up and optimization for Quantum Error Correction applications.

  • Salary range: 136,000 to 184,000 USD per year (Pasadena, CA base range).
