Job Description

Job Title: Staff Research Scientist (Superconducting Qubits). Location: Los Angeles, Hybrid

As a Research Scientist, you will develop solutions for quantum technologies and deploy them in Q-CTRL products; You will focus on improving quantum hardware performance and collaborate with engineering and product teams to implement research outcomes into production-level software.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop efficient methods and tools to address challenges in real quantum computers.
  • Implement and test novel measurement protocols for superconducting qubits.
  • Conduct research in autonomous strategies for tune-up, characterization, and performance optimization of quantum hardware at scale.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to translate research into production software.
  • Document and present research findings in accessible language;
  • Perform other duties aligned with your skills and experience, or with reasonable training.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline; PhD preferred, but exceptional industry experience considered.
  • 3-5 years of research experience in quantum computing or a relevant field.
  • Comprehensive understanding of superconducting quantum computing;
  • Expertise in running experiments on superconducting qubits, including system tune-up and characterization.
  • Familiarity with statistical learning methods, machine learning algorithms, optimization techniques, model selection, and validation.
  • Strong grasp of software development best practices and experience in developing software modules for qubit measurement and control (Python, C++, Rust).
  • Multidisciplinary problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
