Technical Lead Manager, Product

Job Description

Job Title: Technical Lead Manager, Product Software, Quantum AI. Location: Seattle, WA, USA or Goleta, CA, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of customer-facing software tools for Google Quantum AI hardware systems.
  • Design and oversee APIs, client libraries, command-line interfaces (CLI), and web user interfaces for managing quantum processors and user workloads.
  • Define technical roadmaps and recommend solutions for both short-term and long-term product goals.
  • Lead software projects spanning multiple quarters while providing technical direction to engineering teams.
  • Write, review, and optimize code to ensure high-quality software, performance improvements, and adherence to engineering best practices.
  • Design and implement scalable software solutions while delegating work and mentoring engineers;
  • Evaluate existing systems and determine when to enhance current platforms or build new solutions.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and educational resources.
  • Collaborate with research, product, and software engineering teams to develop next-generation quantum computing software.
  • Work closely with hardware engineers, electronics engineers, and research scientists to deliver integrated quantum computing solutions.
  • Manage engineers across multiple teams and contribute to product strategy and execution.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 8 years of software development experience with a focus on distributed computing.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading engineers in the design and implementation of client-side tools or APIs.
  • Minimum 2 years of people management or team leadership experience;
  • Experience designing client-side software, including client libraries, command-line interfaces (CLI), or web applications.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform technologies such as Compute Engine or Cloud Spanner.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Google Distributed Cloud.
  • Experience designing gRPC APIs.
  • Experience designing and maintaining client interfaces, including web UIs, libraries, and CLI tools.
  • Familiarity with quantum computing technologies.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Base salary: $207,000 to $301,000 USD per year.
  • Target annual bonus: 20%.
  • Equity awards.

  • The position involves developing greenfield software systems, providing opportunities to build new APIs, tools, and user interfaces from the ground up;
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including software engineers, hardware engineers, electronics engineers, research scientists, and product teams.
  • Compensation is determined based on skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
