Data Scientist, Integrated Circuit Calibration

Job Description

Job Title: Data Scientist, Quantum Integrated Circuit Design Calibration. Location: Berkeley, CA or Fremont, CA

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement industry-grade software infrastructure in Python to streamline feedback from measurement to the integrated circuit design team.
• Analyze empirical datasets from quantum processors and test devices to identify correlations between fabrication metrology data and processor performance.
• Leverage statistical analysis and machine learning techniques to accurately calibrate processor design parameters;
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists at Rigetti’s quantum foundry to monitor and improve fabrication yield.
• Identify the highest-yielding candidate processors for subsequent testing and deployment.

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in data science and statistical analysis in a scientific field, including handling both small and very large datasets.
• Strong programming skills in Python for scientific applications in collaborative or industrial environments;
• Experience with SQL or similar database querying tools.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with experimentalists to analyze and interpret experimental data.
• Excellent communication skills.

Preferred:

• Knowledge or direct experience with integrated circuit fabrication, lithographic techniques, and optimization of fabrication processes.
• Experience in a technical role within an industry or startup environment.

Benefits and Compensation:

• Base salary: $161,000 - $210,000 per year (dependent on experience, skills, and location).
