Design Enablement Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Design Enablement Engineer. Location: Palo Alto, California, United States; Remote

Responsibilities:

  • Own execution of new and updated design rules for existing photonic mask levels.
  • Serve as the technical interface between photonic design, reliability teams, and Foundry partners.
  • Evaluate interactions between layout, design, technology, and fabrication processes.
  • Review and assess DRC waiver requests, performing technical risk assessments and ensuring proper documentation.
  • Plan and support execution of engineering samples for system builds;
  • Support product qualification activities, contributing to debugging and resolving technology or process issues.
  • Assist in establishing design rules, design manuals, reliability test vehicles, process tolerances, and wafer acceptance criteria.
  • Analyze inline data and generate appropriate engineering line controls.
  • Support tape-out enablement, Process Design Kit (PDK) revisions, and design for reliability activities.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in semiconductor or EDA technologies.
  • Proven experience managing complex projects across departments.
  • Strong domain knowledge in process knowledge, design manual development, DRC creation, and reliability/qualification testing.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-team collaboration;
  • Strong analytical, creative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly focused, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated interest in quantum computing and readiness to contribute in a fast-paced startup environment.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience with leading-edge semiconductor technologies and silicon photonics products.
  • Experience working with advanced quantum hardware platforms or cryogenic systems.
  • Knowledge of computational lithography and tool selection for photonics fabrication.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • U.S. Base Pay Range: $130,000 - $145,000 USD
  • Bay Area Pay Range: $160,000 - $175,000 USD
  • Full-time roles are eligible for equity and additional benefits;
  • Compensation varies based on qualifications, experience, and location.
