Job Title: Senior Director, Electrical Subsystem Design. Location: Milpitas, California, USA
Job Type: Full-Time, Senior Leadership
Responsibilities:
- Define and implement scalable electrical subsystem architectures for large-scale quantum computing systems.
- Develop multi-blade electrical subsystem strategies covering both hardware design and low-level control software.
- Design scalable hardware implementation frameworks aligned with overall system architecture.
Engineering and Problem Solving
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex design challenges including signal integrity, EMI, and power integrity issues.
- Ensure reliability and manufacturability of electrical subsystem designs.
- Conduct technical design reviews and provide engineering feedback.
Leadership and Management
- Lead, mentor, hire, and develop a team of electrical subsystem engineers.
- Manage subsystem design projects including timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
- Foster collaboration across thermal, mechanical, firmware, and optical engineering teams.
Technical Oversight
- Maintain deep expertise in PCB design principles including layout, routing, stack-up, and multi-PCB systems.
- Oversee integration of hardware design with control software stack.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards and internal engineering best practices.
Communication and Documentation
- Communicate technical requirements and project updates to stakeholders.
- Present design progress and findings in cross-functional meetings.
- Document design processes, architecture decisions, and engineering methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
- 15+ years of experience in electrical subsystem design.
- Strong expertise in PCB design, layout, routing, and multi-board systems.
- Experience with signal integrity, EMI, and power integrity analysis.
- Proficiency in Allegro PCB design software;
- Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience designing large-scale quantum or photonic systems.
- Background in system-level hardware architecture for complex computing platforms.
- Familiarity with control software integration for hardware systems;
- Strong experience in high-performance computing or advanced semiconductor systems.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Base salary range: $255,000 – $290,000 depending on location and experience.
