Job Description
Job Title: Electrical Engineering Intern (EE Intern - 499). Location: Broomfield, CO, USA
This position offers an opportunity to work in a hands-on laboratory setting and gain experience with advanced quantum and electronic systems; The intern will support hardware installation, PCB assembly, testing, and troubleshooting in collaboration with engineers and physicists.
Responsibilities:
- Work with engineers and physicists to assist in installing new hardware and electronic systems.
- Perform PCB soldering, assembly, and cable builds.
- Assemble enclosures and mechanical structures with electronic components;
- Verify components, cables, subassemblies, and microelectronic assemblies for accuracy and quality.
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and rework to ensure completion of electronic assemblies.
- Support rapid prototyping projects using 3D printing and related tools;
- Use laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers for measurements and validation.
Qualifications:
- Actively pursuing an Associate degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or a related field.
- Expected graduation in 2026 or later.
- Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems with basic soldering and assembly skills.
- Interest in working in a laboratory and rapid prototyping environment;
- Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, green card holder, or individual with asylum/refugee status).
- Must not hold citizenship of the People’s Republic of China or the Russian Federation unless also a U.S. citizen (due to U.S. national security restrictions).
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
Preferred:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Prior laboratory or prototyping experience;
- Familiarity with RF, digital, and analog troubleshooting and test instruments.
- Experience with data collection and analysis using mathematical software or lab test tools.
- Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Programming knowledge in Python or C++;
- Experience with 3D printing and hardware design tools.
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Pay range: $27 – $30 per hour, based on education and experience.
- Housing stipend up to $1,000 per month for eligible out-of-state candidates.
