Facilities Mechanical Engineer Intern

Job Description

Job Title: Facilities Mechanical Engineer Intern - 999. Location: Broomfield, CO, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the operation, startup, and validation of cleanroom and non-cleanroom HVAC, air systems, chilled water, and related mechanical systems.
  • Conduct system walkdowns and create or update operations and maintenance (O&M) documentation.
  • Support special projects within the mechanical engineering scope.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment.
  • Follow ISO and other relevant standards for cleanroom operations;
  • Support facility planning, including space utilization, infrastructure upgrades, and capital project development.
  • Complete a capstone project during the internship.
  • Present project recommendations and results to site and facilities leadership at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Collaborate with teams while managing multiple priorities and investigating facility or engineering issues.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree.
  • Must be able to complete an internship before finishing the current degree program.
  • Graduation date must be 2027 or later;
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to contractual requirements. This includes U.S. citizens, permanent residents or green card holders, and workers granted asylum or refugee status.
  • Due to U.S. Government national security requirements, candidates must not be nationals of the People's Republic of China or Russia unless they are also U.S. citizens.

Preferred:

  • Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • Expected graduation between December 2027 and June 2028.
  • Strong interest in facilities, construction, infrastructure, engineering, or project management.
  • Familiarity with engineering or construction principles and frameworks;
  • Experience with project management and collaboration tools such as Smartsheet, Jira, Microsoft Project, SharePoint, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to investigate issues and develop practical solutions.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Pay range: $23 to $27 per hour.
  • Actual compensation depends on skills, educational background, professional experience, and other qualifications.
  • Candidates located outside Colorado may receive a housing stipend of $500 per bi-weekly paycheck.
