Job Description
Job Title: Senior HPC and Quantum Systems Engineer. Location: Westford, MA, USA with remote options in MA, CT, and NH
This is a systems engineering role, not a pure research or traditional HPC administrator role; The engineer will work closely with quantum hardware, data center systems, and research teams to turn experimental platforms into reliable production infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and operate hybrid systems that combine large scale GPU clusters with quantum processors including neutral atom, trapped ion, and superconducting systems
- Integrate quantum control systems with HPC infrastructure using APIs, middleware, and orchestration frameworks
- Develop hybrid workflows that coordinate GPU computation, quantum execution, and data transfer
HPC Systems and Operations
- Ensure reliability, performance, and lifecycle management of Linux systems, QPU hardware, job schedulers such as Slurm, networking, and storage
- Work with networking and facilities teams to manage power, cooling, timing, and low latency connectivity required for quantum hardware
- Maintain production level stability for the Quantum environment
Vendor and Partner Collaboration
- Act as a technical contact for quantum hardware partners during system setup and integration
- Define hosting, networking, and integration requirements for new quantum systems entering the facility
- Support co design and system bring up activities
Application Enablement and Performance
- Work with researchers and engineers to deploy and benchmark hybrid workloads including quantum error correction, calibration, optimization, simulation, and machine learning
- Prototype and evaluate full workflow performance across classical and quantum systems
Technical Leadership
- Create internal documentation, integration guides, and operational runbooks
- Represent the organization at workshops, conferences, and technical forums when required
Qualifications:
- 12 or more years of hands on experience operating HPC or large scale production compute infrastructure
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- Strong experience with Linux systems administration and job schedulers such as Slurm;
- Proven experience working in data center environments including networking, storage, and power systems
- Familiarity with quantum computing hardware architectures including neutral atom, trapped ion, superconducting, or photonic systems
- Experience with quantum software environments such as CUDA Q, Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane, or Braket
- Strong understanding of GPU accelerated and heterogeneous computing;
- Proficiency in Python or C++ for automation and system integration
- Ability to work across control systems, APIs, networking layers, and performance tools
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred:
- Direct experience integrating or hosting physical quantum hardware in an HPC or data center environment
- Deep understanding of quantum classical orchestration and low latency system design
- Experience working with NVIDIA tools and frameworks;
- Experience supporting both research teams and production infrastructure

- Level 5: 224,000 USD to 356,500 USD
- Level 6: 272,000 USD to 431,250 USD
