Manager III, Software Dev

Job Description

Job Title: Manager III, Software Development, Hardware Compute Group (SoC Security). Location: Sunnyvale, CA, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a geographically distributed SoC Security engineering team across the United States and India.
  • Recruit, mentor, develop, and retain security engineering talent while establishing clear goals aligned with product milestones.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for cross-functional security decisions across the organization.
  • Own the complete security architecture and strategy for custom silicon products;
  • Drive development and execution of secure boot firmware and hardware root of trust implementations.
  • Oversee Trusted Execution Environment (TEE/OP-TEE) platforms and related security infrastructure.
  • Manage DRM content protection systems, including Widevine, PlayReady, and HDCP;
  • Lead cryptographic key management, code signing infrastructure, and factory provisioning systems.
  • Coordinate security reviews, vulnerability assessments, penetration testing activities, and remediation efforts.
  • Drive security milestone execution aligned with silicon tapeout schedules and product launch timelines.
  • Review and approve critical hardware security decisions, including OTP fuse programming, boot ROM modifications, and cryptographic key hierarchy changes.
  • Prioritize and resolve security vulnerabilities across multiple SoC platforms while balancing security requirements and product delivery schedules.
  • Establish and maintain incident response processes for silicon-specific security threats;
  • Collaborate with Device Security, Operating System Security, Platform Security, manufacturing, and factory teams.
  • Coordinate secure provisioning workflows, including HSM integration, key injection, and fuse programming.
  • Represent SoC security initiatives during product readiness reviews and executive-level discussions;
  • Support next-generation security initiatives, including post-quantum cryptography readiness and confidential computing technologies.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams.
  • 3+ years of experience managing software development or systems engineering teams.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle processes, including:
    • Coding standards
    • Code reviews
    • Source control management
    • Build processes
    • Testing and operations
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Application security frameworks
    • Identity and access management
    • Incident response
    • Mobile security
    • Cloud security
    • AI security
    • Threat intelligence
    • Penetration testing
  • Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience communicating technical requirements, designs, product features, and strategy to engineering teams and senior leadership.
  • Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and managing software engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Secure boot technologies
    • Hardware root of trust
    • Cryptographic key management
    • Trusted Execution Environments (TEE)
  • Experience with DRM and content protection technologies such as:
    • Widevine
    • PlayReady
    • HDCP
  • Experience conducting:
    • Security reviews
    • Threat modeling
    • Penetration testing for embedded or hardware platforms
  • Experience with factory security processes, including:
    • Secure provisioning
    • HSM integration
    • Key injection
    • OTP fuse programming

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Base salary range: $212,700 - $287,700 USD annually
  • Additional compensation may include:
    • Sign-on bonuses
