People Operations Specialist

Job Description

Job Title: Senior People Operations Specialist. Location: Los Angeles, California

You will report to the People Operations Manager in Sydney and serve as the main People Operations contact for US and European employees; The role involves managing the full employee lifecycle, improving HR processes, and supporting managers and staff to drive a positive culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and improve day-to-day People Operations processes.
  • Generate people metrics reports and share actionable insights.
  • Support and improve employee experience and retention through continuous feedback.
  • Provide HR support across onboarding, performance management, and separations.
  • Develop tools and resources to enable staff self-service;
  • Maintain and optimize the HRIS and employee records.
  • Act as the main HR liaison for US-based employees, including benefits administration.
  • Ensure compliance with US and California labor laws, and assist with global employment law alignment.
  • Support cyclical processes such as performance reviews, compensation reviews, benchmarking, and engagement surveys.
  • Carry out additional duties aligned with your skills and training.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of progressive HR/People Operations experience.
  • Strong expertise in performance management, employee relations, and California labor law.
  • Proven ability to design and implement People programs aligned with business goals.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills;
  • Ability to balance employee needs with business requirements.
  • Proficiency with HR systems and interest in automation and efficiency.

Preferred but not required:

  • Experience in startups or scaleups, ideally in tech.
  • Exposure to international HR practices, especially UK and German labor law.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Base salary: $110,000–$180,000, depending on skills, experience, and location.
