Job Description
Job Title: Quantum Error Correction Theorist II [575]. Location: New Haven, CT, USA
Responsibilities:
- Conduct pathfinding quantum error correction (QEC) research tailored to dual-rail cavity qubits for near-term and scalable fault-tolerant computing applications.
- Research fault-tolerant computation using erasure qubits across a broad range of QEC topics.
- Explore error-correcting codes, lattice surgery, magic state preparation, decoders, and related QEC techniques.
- Investigate logical error rates and resource requirements for QEC architectures;
- Design and perform detailed, hardware-accurate simulations of novel QEC protocols.
- Contribute to D-Wave's roadmap for realizing fault-tolerant quantum computation using its dual-rail architecture.
- Collaborate closely with experimental physicists and engineering teams.
- Communicate research findings and contribute effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or Master's degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience in Quantum Computing, Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated research track record in QEC codes, fault-tolerant protocols, and/or QEC simulations and modeling.
- Proficiency in scientific programming using Python, Rust, Julia, MATLAB, C, C++, or a similar language;
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with professionals from different areas of physics and engineering.

- Base pay range: $86,800 to $130,300 USD for the New Haven location.
