Job Description
Job Title: Quantum System Performance Monitoring Intern 2027. Location: Yorktown Heights, NY, USA
Responsibilities:
- Develop and improve techniques for identifying performance drift and degradation in quantum processors.
- Help create automated methods for deciding when quantum systems should be recalibrated or when other corrective actions should be taken.
- Optimize quantum system parameters to improve performance, stability, and availability.
- Apply machine learning and AI techniques to quantum system monitoring and calibration when appropriate.
- Apply statistical analysis and optimization methods to experimental data;
- Analyze quantum system performance using data-driven approaches.
- Work with scientists and researchers on automated monitoring and calibration techniques.
- Depending on the project and background, work with experimental or time-series datasets.
- Contribute to anomaly detection, statistical inference, automated control, and parameter optimization.
- Analyze large experimental datasets and contribute to data-analysis pipelines.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Undergraduate-level familiarity with quantum physics and quantum computing.
- Knowledge of Python programming.
- Familiarity with numerical analysis and statistics.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent academic background.
- Graduate-level familiarity with quantum computing, numerical analysis, statistics, or related areas.
- Hands-on experience with experimental quantum systems.
- Experience with quantum-device characterization or calibration;
- Experience using the Qiskit Python package.
- Experience developing or applying machine-learning, statistical, or optimization methods to experimental or time-series data.
- Familiarity with anomaly detection, statistical inference, automated control, or parameter optimization.
- Experience working with large experimental datasets or data-analysis pipelines.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Projected annual compensation range of $89,280 to $163,680, based on a full-time annualized schedule.
- Eligible Supplemental 1 employees may receive up to 8 paid holidays.
- Minimum of 56 hours of paid sick time.

- This is a fixed-term co-op/internship position.
