Job Title: Quantum Fab R&D Scientist, Amazon Center for Quantum Computing. Location: Pasadena, CA, USA
Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize fabrication processes for high-coherence superconducting qubits.
- Develop advanced 3DI interconnect and routing technologies for integrating superconducting quantum technologies.
- Use micro- and nanofabrication techniques inside the cleanroom to develop technologies for next-generation quantum processors.
- Plan experiments and analyze data outside the cleanroom;
- Analyze inline metrology and electrical test data to evaluate and improve fabrication processes.
- Develop and maintain integration documentation, design rules, and standard operating procedures.
- Work independently and collaboratively with scientists, engineers, and technicians.
- Interact with project leads to provide feedback that continuously improves fabrication and integration processes.
- Stay current with advancements and industry trends in process integration and apply new knowledge to improve processes and drive innovation.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior colleagues;
- Contribute to a collaborative, knowledge-sharing work environment.
- Manage multiple projects and tasks while maintaining effective communication and problem-solving.
- Research and learn new technical topics as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or an equivalent field.
- Experience fabricating superconducting quantum circuits and/or packaging components.
- Demonstrated understanding of sound scientific and engineering principles.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to work independently and effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High motivation, curiosity, and willingness to learn new technical areas.
Preferred:
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
- Experience with semiconductor process development and micro- or nanofabrication.
- Experience working with superconducting quantum processors;
- Experience with process integration, fabrication, or quantum device packaging.

- Base salary range of $125,500 to $169,800 per year.
