Job Description
Job Title: Quantum Research Scientist. Location: Pasadena, California, USA
Responsibilities:
- Design and conduct experiments to characterize the impact of environmental and material noise on qubit performance.
- Develop experimental measurement techniques to improve qubit dynamics and overall device performance.
- Automate data collection to ensure statistically significant experimental results;
- Analyze measurement data and prepare clear technical reports and presentations for the research team.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers, materials scientists, and circuit designers to implement improvements that reduce the effects of noise.
- Contribute new research ideas and remain up to date with advances in experimental quantum computing.
- Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team of physicists, engineers, and scientists.
Qualifications:
- Experience programming in Python, Java, C++, or a related programming language.
- Experience working with SQL and relational database management systems (RDBMS) or data warehouses.
- Strong background in experimental measurement techniques.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills;
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment.
- Strong engineering principles, resourcefulness, and a proactive approach to solving complex problems.
Preferred:
- Experience implementing algorithms using both existing toolkits and self-developed code.
- Publications in leading peer-reviewed journals or top-tier scientific conferences.
- Demonstrated record of original scientific research contributions in quantum computing or a related field.
