Job Description

Job Title: Senior Research Scientist, Neutral Atoms Control Electronics, Quantum AI. Location: Boulder, CO, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Support the deployment of electronic control systems for quantum computing platforms.
  • Drive board-level electronics projects from concept, design, and validation through production and deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify control system requirements and develop effective hardware solutions.
  • Design custom electronic systems for controlling neutral atom quantum processors;
  • Lead board-level and system-level architecture, design, testing, and integration efforts.
  • Work with internal engineering teams and external vendors to deliver high-performance electronic systems.
  • Lead hardware bring-up, validation, debugging, and deployment activities.
  • Support experimental quantum computing systems by maintaining and improving control electronics;
  • Conduct research and contribute innovative solutions for next-generation quantum computing technologies.
  • Publish and share research findings internally and with the broader scientific community when appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in analog, digital, or mixed-signal circuit design;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience designing printed circuit boards for analog or mixed-signal applications.
  • Strong understanding of electronic system development and board-level design practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Preferred:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience designing and building electronic quantum control systems for neutral atom or trapped-ion quantum computers.
  • Experience leading hardware development projects from concept through deployment.
  • Experience managing external vendors and suppliers;
  • Deep expertise in analog and mixed-signal (AMS) design methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of RF, FPGA, and board-level electronic design practices.
  • Experience using industry-standard electronic design and simulation tools.
  • Experience working with quantum computing hardware platforms.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Base Salary: $174,000 - $253,000 USD annually
  • Target Bonus: 15%
