Scientist, Superconducting Qubit Measurement

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Research Scientist, Superconducting Qubit Measurement, Quantum AI. Location: Cambridge, MA, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Perform millikelvin measurements of superconducting circuits for quantum computing.
  • Calibrate and characterize superconducting qubits and mixed-signal circuits, including transmon, fluxonium, and single flux quantum (SFQ) superconducting circuits.
  • Calibrate superconducting qubit gates, readout systems, and flux pulses using both room-temperature and cryogenic electronics.
  • Build, maintain, and improve software used for controlling superconducting circuits and analyzing measurement data.
  • Design innovative control schemes for qubit calibration and integration with superconducting control electronics;
  • Collaborate closely with qubit designers, fabrication engineers, and measurement engineers to maximize device performance.
  • Reduce crosstalk, improve gate fidelities, and enhance future quantum processor designs.
  • Partner with design, fabrication, and measurement teams to validate fully integrated quantum processors.
  • Contribute to the development of modular chip stacks that integrate superconducting qubits with cryogenic control electronics.
  • Author high-quality research papers and present research findings at leading scientific conferences.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 3 years of research or industry experience;
  • Experience performing measurements of superconducting qubits or superconducting digital logic circuits.
  • Experience programming in Python.
  • At least one published research paper.
  • At least one presentation at a relevant scientific conference.

Preferred:

  • 7 years of research or industry experience in the measurement, design, or simulation of superconducting qubits or superconducting digital logic.
  • 3 years of experience leading research projects.
  • Experience working with dilution refrigerators.
  • Experience with microwave engineering.
  • Experience calibrating superconducting qubit gates or other precision control techniques.
  • Strong Python skills for interfacing with control electronics, executing measurements, and performing data analysis.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Annual salary: USD $174,000 to $253,000, depending on skills, experience, and qualifications.
  • Target annual bonus of 15%.
