Senior EDA/CAD Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior EDA/CAD Engineer. Location: Palo Alto, California, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and support design databases, including data integrity and version control systems such as IC Manage and Cliosoft
  • Install, configure, and manage foundry PDKs for semiconductor design workflows
  • Develop automation tools using Python, Perl, and Cadence SKILL
  • Own and maintain the custom design environment used by schematic and mask designers
  • Support CAD tools including Virtuoso ADE, ADS simulation environments, HSPICE, and Verilog/SystemVerilog flows
  • Improve cloud-based design infrastructure, including compute systems and user workflows;
  • Collaborate with CAD tool vendors to evaluate tools, resolve bugs, and improve usability
  • Develop infrastructure for new process technologies in quantum and semiconductor design
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design environment issues to ensure high productivity

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (5+ years experience) or Master’s degree (3+ years experience)
  • Strong understanding of MOSFET device behavior, CMOS layout, and VLSI design
  • Excellent programming, debugging, and problem-solving skills;
  • Experience with version control and design data management systems
  • Strong proficiency in Python, Perl, and Cadence SKILL
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred:

  • Experience working with semiconductor or quantum IC design environments
  • Familiarity with cloud-based EDA infrastructure;
  • Experience supporting large-scale design teams and workflows
  • Understanding of silicon photonics or advanced process technologies
  • Strong interest in automation and design tool optimization

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base salary range: $120,000 to $185,000 depending on location and experience
  • Equity participation (full-time role eligible)
