Job Description
Job Title: Staff Software Engineer, Pixel System Security. Location: Mountain View, California, USA
Responsibilities:
- Lead the architecture and development of next-generation secure boot mechanisms for Google Pixel devices.
- Design and manage secure manufacturing lifecycle state transitions across the Pixel platform.
- Partner with custom silicon engineering teams to conduct security architecture reviews for future System-on-Chip (SoC) designs.
- Improve platform security through ROM hardening, secure provisioning, and cryptographic accelerator integration.
- Develop secure device authentication workflows and strengthen hardware binding to protect against supply chain threats.
- Lead production cryptographic key creation ceremonies and oversee secure key management processes;
- Collaborate with operating system security teams to align platform security architecture and implementation.
- Drive technical direction for large-scale security initiatives while mentoring engineering teams.
- Design secure, scalable software architectures for embedded systems and platform security.
- Contribute to the development of next-generation technologies supporting Google's Pixel ecosystem.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 5 years of experience working with embedded systems and system security.
- 3 years of experience in software design and architecture;
- Strong experience developing secure embedded software and platform security solutions.
- Excellent technical leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred:
- Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 8 years of experience in embedded systems, operating system internals, or systems security architecture.
- 3 years of experience leading engineering teams and setting technical direction.
- Experience collaborating with silicon engineering teams.
- Experience building secure bootloaders, hardware roots of trust, and secure key management systems.
- Familiarity with Post-Quantum Cryptography (ML-DSA).
- Knowledge of attestation frameworks such as DICE.
- Experience with memory-safe programming languages such as Rust.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Annual salary: $207,000 to $301,000 USD.
- Target annual bonus of 20%.
