Job Description
Job Title: Senior Subsystem Validation Engineer. Location: Milpitas, California, United States
Responsibilities:
- Review sub-system designs integrating optics, electronics, firmware, software, and thermal systems.
- Design and assemble laboratory setups including light sources, detectors, switches, function generators, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment.
- Develop software scripts for data collection, analysis, and extraction of key performance parameters;
- Plan and execute experiments to validate sub-system functionality.
- Write validation plans for characterization of new sub-system designs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physical science.
- 6+ years of industry experience.
- At least 5 years of experience validating and testing optical systems.
- Proficiency with optical and/or electrical test equipment (e.g., power meters, optical backscatter reflectometers, optical spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, function generators, vector network analyzers);
- Experience with high-speed electro-optical devices such as electro-optical modulators, RF detectors, pulsed lasers, optical sampling oscilloscopes.
- Ability to develop test methods, optimization, and tuning/calibration algorithms.
- Ability to write scripts to communicate with and control instruments.
Preferred:
- Experience with Python scripting.
- Familiarity with programming CPUs to interface with FPGAs.
Benefits and Compensation:
- U.S. Base Pay Range: $160,000 - $180,000 USD
- Bay Area Pay Range: $183,000 - $200,000 USD
- Full-time roles are eligible for equity and benefits;
- Compensation may vary based on experience, education, and business needs.
