Job Description
Job Title: Data Platform Software Engineer. Location: Palo Alto, California, USA
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for photonic quantum computing systems.
- Develop ETL and ELT workflows to process simulation outputs, layout metadata, waveform data, logs, and manufacturing yield data.
- Integrate data from multiple engineering systems including APIs, databases, streaming platforms, and EDA toolchains;
- Ensure data integrity, traceability, version control, and reproducibility across the full chip development lifecycle.
- Implement automated validation, monitoring, and observability systems for data quality and pipeline reliability.
- Optimize data processing performance for large-scale simulation and high-throughput manufacturing datasets.
- Build data models supporting yield analysis, failure analysis, and performance tracking (PPA metrics).
- Collaborate with circuit designers, CAD/EDA engineers, verification teams, and manufacturing engineers;
- Develop internal tools and automation frameworks to reduce manual data handling and accelerate design cycles.
- Maintain secure and compliant data handling practices across cloud and on-prem systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience building production-grade data pipelines or data platforms.
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
- Experience with distributed data systems and ETL frameworks;
- Understanding of software engineering best practices including version control, CI/CD, testing, and code reviews.
- Experience working with large structured and unstructured datasets such as logs, netlists, waveform data, and manufacturing outputs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
- Experience in semiconductor, ASIC, SoC, or photonics design environments.
- Familiarity with EDA toolchains and chip design workflows.
- Experience with tools such as Databricks, Apache Kafka, Spark, or Airflow.
- Knowledge of HPC or high-throughput compute clusters;
- Experience supporting ML or advanced analytics workflows.
- Background in experimental systems or hardware-software integration environments.
- Strong interest in quantum computing and photonic architectures.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Base salary range: $140,000 to $165,000 depending on location and experience.
