Job Description
Job Title: Director, Legal Operations. Location: Remote, United States
The Director of Legal Operations will lead the transformation of the Legal function, building efficient processes, managing technology systems and driving a scalable and data-driven operating model; This role reports to the Chief Legal Officer and supports long-term business and legal goals.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the company’s legal operations strategy in line with business objectives.
- Lead process optimization, automation, and technology adoption to scale the Legal function.
- Oversee implementation and management of legal technology platforms including CLM, e-billing, document management, and analytics tools.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and vendor relationships to ensure financial efficiency and strategic planning;
- Drive adoption of new processes across the Legal team and ensure consistent use of technology and workflows.
- Work with internal departments such as Finance, IT, and HR, and with external partners to support company-wide initiatives.
- Build and maintain reporting frameworks, dashboards, KPIs, and analytics to measure performance and identify risks.
- Maintain centralized legal resources including templates, playbooks, and knowledge bases;
- Ensure governance, risk, and compliance frameworks are properly implemented and maintained.
- Lead and develop members of the Legal Operations and administrative teams;
- Monitor trends in legal operations and identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Legal Studies, or a related field. An MBA or JD is an advantage.
- More than 15 years of experience in legal operations or a similar role within an in-house legal department.
- Proven success leading large transformation projects and organization-wide change;
- Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to connect operational strategy to measurable outcomes.
- Experience deploying and integrating legal technology platforms such as CLM, e-billing solutions, analytics systems, and document management tools.
- Strong leadership skills with experience building and developing teams;
- Ability to implement governance and risk management frameworks to support compliance and data integrity;
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with senior executives and cross-functional leaders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with comfort using metrics and data-driven decision making.
- Ability to operate in a fast-moving, dynamic environment with a proactive and adaptable mindset.
