Network Automation Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Infrastructure Automation Engineer (Network Focus). Location: Yorktown Heights, New York, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable, automated solutions for enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for network systems using tools like Ansible and related frameworks.
  • Integrate network automation workflows into CI/CD pipelines for consistent and repeatable deployments.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, platform, and engineering teams to ensure system reliability and operational consistency.
  • Define and enforce standards, best practices, and reusable frameworks for network automation;
  • Build templated configurations and modular automation components across multiple environments.
  • Implement validation, testing, and compliance systems to ensure safe and reliable network changes.
  • Contribute to network architecture discussions with a focus on scalability and automation.
  • Mentor team members and support adoption of modern software-driven operations.
  • Support end-to-end reliability across a global infrastructure footprint.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in IT network and security engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of L2/L3 networking, firewalls, and DDI systems.
  • 3–5 years of enterprise network engineering experience (Cisco, Palo Alto, Infoblox).
  • Strong hands-on experience with network automation using Ansible or similar tools.
  • Experience building reusable roles, playbooks, and templates;
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation workflows.
  • Strong understanding of Git-based development practices.
  • Programming or scripting experience (Python, Bash) for automation.
  • Experience working with APIs and data-driven automation systems.
  • Strong understanding of network reliability, security, and resilience.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Familiarity with Netmiko, Nornir, Scrapli, or model-driven networking (NETCONF/RESTCONF).
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, DevNet, PCNSA, or PCSAE.
  • Experience with multi-site or global network environments.
  • Exposure to cloud networking (IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure);
  • Knowledge of secrets management and secure automation practices.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and systems-thinking skills.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives across teams.

  • Salary range: $131,000 – $245,000 per year.
