Job Title: Quantum Demonstration Experimentalist. Location: Yorktown Heights, NY; San Jose, CA; Cambridge, MA, USA
Job Type: Full-Time, Entry Level, Hybrid
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement novel quantum hardware demonstrations that expand the capabilities of IBM quantum systems.
- Design and execute first-of-a-kind experimental demonstrations and advantage-scale experiments.
- Collaborate with theorists, experimental physicists, and software engineers.
- Apply advanced techniques including error mitigation, error suppression, dynamic circuits, quantum control, quantum error correction, and high-performance computing integrations;
- Use device physics knowledge to optimize experimental performance and influence the design of next-generation quantum hardware.
- Contribute to the full quantum computing technology stack to improve usability, robustness, and scalability.
- Participate in research and development activities and executive speaker sessions.
- Communicate technical ideas clearly and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree.
- At least 3 years of relevant research experience in experimental quantum computing, simulation, or control. Doctoral research experience may count toward this requirement.
- Demonstrated record of research and accomplishment.
- Programming experience, preferably with Python.
Preferred:
- Strong understanding of superconducting qubit device physics or comparable quantum hardware architectures.
- Experience with experimental techniques such as error mitigation, error suppression, and quantum control.
- Strong publication record in high-impact journals or leading conference proceedings.
- Familiarity with Git and/or GitHub;
- Experience with Qiskit or similar quantum software development frameworks.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Projected annual salary: $185,000 to $225,000.
