Job Title: Research Intern, PhD, Summer 2027. Location: Multiple U.S. locations
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a research agenda.
- Conduct research and experiments in a relevant technical area.
- Work closely with engineers, researchers, peers, managers, and partner teams.
- Contribute to a productive, innovative, and collaborative research environment;
- Develop experiments and prototype implementations to investigate technical challenges.
- Contribute to research that can influence Google's products, services, and technologies.
- Participate in research efforts that may result in publications, open-source projects, or applications to Google products.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Linguistics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Natural Sciences, or a related technical field;
- Experience in at least one area of computer science, such as:
- Natural Language Understanding
- Computer Vision
- Machine Learning
- Deep Learning
- Algorithmic Foundations of Optimization
- Quantum Information Science
- Data Science
- Software Engineering
- Other related technical areas
- English proficiency is required for the internship program.
- Ability to work in the United States for the duration of the internship.
Preferred:
- Currently attending a degree program in the United States.
- Available to work full-time for 12 weeks outside the university term.
- In the penultimate academic year or returning to a degree program after completing the internship.
- Previous research experience through internships, full-time research positions, or laboratory work;
- Contributions to research communities or research efforts, including publications in major conferences or journals.
- Experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C, or C++.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Paid full-time internship lasting approximately 12-14 weeks.
- US compensation range: $118,000-$157,000.
- Bonus target: 0%.
